Mara G. Haseltine will give talk for “Green Renter” series at Green Arts Energy and Education Center Solar1 about her artistic quest to design to the ultimate oyster reef for the ‘New York City Oyster’. Haseltine will discuss how she has worked with a team marine biologists and ecologists to experiment and create the first solar powered oyster reef in New York City this past June as well as reef designs that combine science/technology and traditional methodology to create oyster reef habitat . When implemented on a large scale oyster reefs have the potential to filter the 27 billions tons of wastewater dumped into NYC annually and will bring back biodiversity to the region which has not been seen since before the Industrial Revolution.: http://www.solar1.orgzp8497586rqzp8497586rq
